Roman Poboinyi is a Ukrainian opera singer (tenor) whose career exemplifies a perfect blend of technical skill and artistic expression. He began his journey in music after initially studying medicine in his hometown. However, in 2010, he decided to pursue his true passion for music, enrolling at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv. Under the guidance of Professor Oleksandr Vostryakov, Roman honed his vocal technique and graduated in 2015, gaining valuable stage experience in the Academy’s opera studio.

In 2015, Roman continued his studies in opera at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where he studied under Professor Georg Nigl. During his time there, he performed important roles such as “Hoffmann” in “The Tales of Hoffmann”, “Rinuccio” in “Gianni Schicchi”, and “Il Duca di Mantova” in “Rigoletto”. His debut performances at the Stuttgart Opera in 2016–2017 included the roles of the Page in “Rigoletto” and Don Curzio in “The Marriage of Figaro”, as well as his performance as Rodolfo in “La Bohème” in Balingen.

However, the most significant chapter of Roman’s career came when he became a soloist at the State Theatre Augsburg, where he performed from 2017 to 2024. During this time, he brought to life several key roles that became milestones in his professional development. These included “Tamino” in “The Magic Flute”, “Rosillon” in “The Merry Widow”, “Alfredo” in “La Traviata”, and “Edgardo” in “Lucia di Lammermoor”. His work at Augsburg was marked by exceptional vocal technique, but more importantly, by his ability to create deep, emotionally resonant characters that captivated both critics and audiences alike.

In addition to his stage performances, Roman is also an active concert singer, performing tenor parts in major choral works such as Bruckner’s “Te Deum”, Orff’s “Carmina Burana”, Gounod’s “Messe solennelle”, Schubert’s “Schwanengesang”, and more. His concert appearances are known for their emotional depth and flawless vocal technique.

One of his notable artistic achievements includes his participation in the recording of Richard Flury’s opera “Der schlimmheilige Vitalis”, performed with the Nuremberg Philharmonic and released on CD by Toccata Classics.

Since 2024, Roman Poboinyi has been the first tenor in the prestigious opera choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, continuing to grow and shine on one of Europe’s most renowned opera stages.
